Tenth Anniversary: A Word from the Director

Dear Generation Joshua
As we approach Christmas and the New Year I thought it appropriate to think through the ways God has blessed GenJ over the past ten years.

And yes you did catch that right, next year Generation Joshua will be in its tenth year of operation.  God has taken us on an incredible journey!

For those of you who don’t know, Generation Joshua was founded in 2003 to pursue “Patriotism, excellence, and civic duty, in all fields of American culture”, and the only programs we offered were Student Action Teams and our online civics courses.

As we have grown.  We added our weekend seminars (iElect, iAdvocate, iAmend, iObject, and Kings Court), three annual iGovern summer leadership camps, online forums and chat rooms, our Benjamin Rush College Scholarship program, our nationwide Clubs program, our Leadership Corps, and more.  I have had the privilege to interact with many of you over the past five years and it has been incredible to see how God has used them to challenge, stretch, and mature Generation Joshua.  Over the past five years we have moved from three thousand members to over ten-thousand members.

Our vision is to assist parents to raise up the next generation of Christian leaders and citizens, equipped to positively influence the political processes of today and tomorrow, and each of our programs seek to accomplish that end.  We, as Christians, are called to be good stewards of our family, our community, and our nation, and we try to offer opportunities for members to be good stewards.

As we go forward into the next year I want to offer you a vision for how Generation Joshua will grow.
We are continuing our weekend training conferences (Teen tracks) and may be coming to a location near you, we will let you know as the locations and dates are confirmed.
Our iGovern summer leadership camps are continuing and the tentative dates are as follows:

iGovern East will be at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia from June 2-8.

iGovern Pacific will be at California Baptist University in Riverside California from June 16-22.

iGovern West will be at Bear Trap Ranch in Colorado Springs Colorado from July 7-13.

My goal is to maximize the space at the camps so that no one will have to be turned away due to space limitations (as was required last year).  For the many of you who know me, I have loved being part of the development and expansion of iGovern, and I would encourage you to attend (prices aren’t going up this year either) as it is the best and only leadership development simulation of its kind.

I expect it to be a busy year, and as the threats to our liberty and freedom have escalated it will require us to be vigilant to defend the freedoms and liberties God has entrusted us with.  We expect to again be engaged in student action teams in fall of 2013, this time focused on Virginia.  And I hope to see you there as well.

In honor of our tenth anniversary, Generation Joshua will be doing a series of special events, with many opportunities for you to be involved.  Stay tuned to the Weekly Update to hear more as we celebrate a decade of GenJ!

As we move into the Christmas season, let me leave you with this reminder of how we should live our lives through all that we do.

John 13:34-35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Merry Christmas, I pray God’s greatest blessing for each of you.

In Christ,

Joel Grewe
