World magazine published an article on what the author, Anthony Bradley, called “the Bitters.”
Bradley describes the twenty-something young people that have grown into bitter young adults because of their easy upbringing. When I read the article I saw the author describing young teens I have known just as much as to the twenty-something young adults that I went to college with several years ago.
It is sad to see people reject the principals and truths of their upbringing in order to define themselves and find some sort of release through harsh, if not undeserved, criticism of the institutions and structures that raised them.
Criticism has its place, but it can easily turn to bitterness. It takes wisdom and humility to know the difference.
